Chris Willcox was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She earned BFA degrees from the Ontario College of Art and Design, University of Guelph and earned her MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Jersey. She worked as a scenic artist in the film and television industry in Canada prior to moving to Minneapolis in 2000 where she is currently a tenured professor in the Art and Art History department at Macalester College.

Chris’s work has been shown at galleries in the U.S. and Canada, including The Minneapolis Institute of Art, The Phipps Center for the Arts and the Bloomington Arts Center. She is the recipient of numerous grants, including Canada Council and Ontario Arts Council Grants, and in 2015, A Howard Foundation Fellowship in painting and a Minnesota State Arts Board Grant.
